Colours of Christmas: Red

The main colours of Christmas are red, green and gold, white and silver.

Red is the colour of love and energy. In Christian tradition, this colour symbolizes the blood of Jesus which was shed for all humans that they might be saved. (John 19:34).

I'll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
and presents on the tree

Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams

Stars are used as Christmas tree toppers because they represent the star in the East which is said to have hung over the manger in which Jesus was born. This is the light in the sky that the Wise Men journeyed toward to find the new king. This may also be symbolic of the pagan celebration of Yule, which celebrates the return of the sun, our brightest star, toward the Northern Hemisphere.

Angels are used for Christmas tree toppers to represent the angel of God that came down from heaven to bring tidings of Jesus' birth. It is also a general symbol of the Christian god's message, peace, and love. Choosing a Christmas tree topper angel can remind your family that the reason for the season is Jesus' appearance on earth, and God's word and love

Male mistletoe plants lack berries but have small greenish flowers in the forks of their branches from
